We offer our patients—more than 100,000 last year alone—the highest quality care and the most advanced technologies and treatments in nearly every medical specialty. In Neurosciences, for example, Swedish is one of only a few hospitals in the country that has both a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury model program.

We are known for much more than our highly advanced technology and groundbreaking work, though. Our history for personalized, quality care has made us a respected medical provider and south metro Denver's most-trusted community health resource for more than 100 years.

At Swedish, our staff is at the heart of delivering on our promise of Swedish Memorable Care. Whether we are working hands-on with patients, delivering a warm meal, keeping a room clean or coordinating efforts behind-the-scenes, we are all focused on ensuring patients, their families and friends a positive experience. Members of our staff are regularly recognized by patients, families and their peers for their compassion and attention to detail. We employ only those who can dedicate themselves to our mission of excellent patient satisfaction.

Innovation is at the Heart of Our Work

The Heart Center at Swedish Medical Center has one of the busiest cardiac catherization labs in Denver and offers a variety of procedures from angioplasty to rotoblation and pacemaker implantation. When it comes to new technologies and treatments, our Heart Center breaks new ground every day. For example, our new Cardiac Alert program—which coordinates a heart attack patient's care from ambulance to ED to Cardiac Cath Lab—has been able to reduce the door to open vessel time for Cardiac Alert patients to as little as 23 minutes, and give more patients the best chance of survival. Recently, The Heart Center created a new model for treating low-risk patients with chest pain by reducing hospital stays from 23 hours to an average of less than eight. Patients and EMS agencies both report greater satisfaction with the hospital in determining more quickly that the patient's pain is not cardiac related.

Swedish has always been a leader in the imaging and radiology areas. We were the first hospital in the nation to use CT scanners, and one of the first to use MRI, angiography suites, ultrasound and nuclear medicine. Recent advances include use of the wing span stent, LC beads for the treatment of liver cancer and Penumbra device for the treatment of stroke. In this region, the Swedish name is synonymous with innovative care. In fact, our advanced radiology capabilities, leading-edge cardiology and cancer treatments, and advanced surgical technologies help support nine distinct Centers of Excellence:

  • Cancer Center
  • Emergency Services
  • The Heart Center
  • Neurosciences, including The Stroke Center
  • Orthopedic Services
  • Spine Program
  • Trauma Center
  • Women's & Children's Services
